On July 25 & 26, 2007, Missouri LICA
assisted the University of Missouri by installing the first phase of a
subsurface drainage and sub-irrigation test plot at the Bradford Research
Farms in Columbia, MO. This summer's installation is the first, smaller
phase of the full project. Phase two will take place during the summer of
2008 and will include exhibit booths, educational demonstration stations,
local landowners and contractors. This year, we just wanted to get the
project started and introduce a couple of sessions of Mizzou's crop clinic
attendees to the concept of subsurface drainage and sub-irrigation.
We'd like to thank Jeff Lance & Rod
Schottel for serving as the installing contractors; Kevin Shimp and Port
Industries for donating and operating the machinery; AgriDrain and Prinsco,
Inc. for donating the tile and water control structures; and Larry Mueller,
Kelly Nelson, Peter Scharf and the University of Missouri for hosting the
project.
